St Georges Parade, Tempest Street, Wolverhampton
The project included the demolition of existing buildings on the site with retention of front section of historic masonry façade. A structural assessment on the condition of the façade was needed prior to demolition to confirm it suitable for retention.
The structural solution comprises of a structural steelwork podium frame to underside of first floor with retail beneath supporting a three storey loadbearing masonry structure above for the residential apartments.
The foundations are designed as balanced reinforced strip foundation adjacent to the retained façade with traditional strip foundations to the remaining areas. The suspended floors are hollow precast concrete with finishes to provide acoustic requirements.
The entire scheme consisted of 20,000 sq ft of retail with 32 residential apartments.
